Goal: to help babies and parents

Jenn and Kristin, an occupational and physical therapist, have more than 30 years combined experience in a variety of pediatric settings and seven kids between them.

After seven years of working in the NICU and children’s hospital, their friendship and passion, drove them to dream about opening Balanced Baby. The hope of creating space and time to work with moms and their babies in promoting progression through typical development and infant feeding fueled them to create this company (using an effective easy access multidisciplinary model).

Jenn and Kristin together create the ideal prenatal and newborn services that can meet the needs of expectant moms, new mommies, and infants. Out of all of this, Balanced Baby was BORN!! They have presented in Atlanta, GA, at the American Academy of Physiological Medicine & Dentistry: Collaboration Cures 2021 Conference, speaking on the national platform on "Beginning with the End in Mind: What Do Babies Tell Us About Ourselves?". In November 2021, Balanced Baby presented for the Florida Lactation Consultants quarterly meeting in Orlando, FL.  In 2023, Jenn and Kristin presented the webinar, The Mouth-Body Connection In the Developing Infant, for Dandlelion Medical. In 2024, they will be presenting for the PESI Rehab NICU Summit!  The Balanced Baby team is TOTS Trained in assessing tethered oral tissues and its impact on oral and airway health.

We want every mom to feel confident and equipped with all the tools to enjoy these precious moments with her little one. We very much look forward to working with you!!

Jennifer Ainsworth is a pediatric occupational therapist and Neonatal Touch and Massage certified. Jenn graduated with a double major in Elementary Education and Psychology from the University of Miami in 2003. She continued her education at Florida International University in Miami, Florida, earning her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy in 2005.

There was never a question that her goal throughout all her schooling was to work with children, as this was her passion.

LEAD OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST & CO-FOUNDER OF BALANCED BABY

She began her career at United Cerebral Palsy in Orlando, Florida, serving children with varying diagnosis in an outpatient setting. In 2010, Jenn continued her work in pediatric rehabilitation at Arnold Palmer Hospital Medical Center. After two years, the opportunity to serve inpatient in the neonatal intensive care unit was presented at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.

Jenn loves to provide education on feeding and development to moms. She has an extensive training and experience in feeding difficulties from neonates through childhood. Jenn has attended Neurodevelopmental Treatment courses for handling and facilitation of typical motor patterns through milestones. She has also worked with various populations displaying an array of infant feeding difficulties and state regulation, creating a custom plan that works well for the infant/child as well as the family. She believes that by providing education and understanding of sensory systems, feeding cues, simple developmentally appropriate play ideas, schedules, and mom tips, that mothers can truly thrive and enjoy each season of motherhood.

Jenn lives in Orlando, FL with her husband, Andrew, and their four boys: Max (10), Ben (8), Daniel (6), and Nathan (4). They homeschool their boys and love to spend time together as a family doing anything outdoors. In her free time, Jenn loves to cook, bake, garden, and run. Working beside mothers at any stage who need encouragement and tips to help make this motherhood journey easier is truly what energizes her.

Kristin Horwath is a pediatric physical therapist, certified neonatal therapist, and Neonatal Touch and Massage certified. Kristin graduated with a bachelors in Health Science at the University of Florida in 2008 and received her Doctorate of Physical Therapy at the University of North Florida in 2011. She knew her passion was in pediatrics and began her career at Wolfson Children’s Hospital, treating in outpatient and acute care pediatric rehabilitation. In 2014, Kristin moved to Orlando and continued her work in pediatric rehabilitation at Arnold Palmer Hospital Medical Center and with the neonatal population in the neonatal intensive care unit at Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women and Babies.

LEAD PHYSICAL THERAPIST & CO-FOUNDER OF BALANCED BABY

Kristin has worked in the acute care setting treating the most critical patients as well as in outpatient pediatric rehabilitation centers, assisting in the development of the sports & orthopedics program in coordination with physicians and managing a caseload of pediatric patients, birth to 21 years of age, with a variety of neurologic, orthopedic, genetic, developmental and congenital conditions in both the outpatient & acute care settings. Kristin desires to always advocate even for the tiniest patients that live in the NICU for weeks to months.

She always enjoys educating parents on how they can help facilitate their baby’s optimal development from the time in the hospital to when they are home and ongoing throughout early infancy and childhood. She is also supporting and fostering the need for developmentally appropriate care for patients with complex needs, involving a multidisciplinary approach and team effort. Kristin believes working in pediatrics allows you to see the rewarding impacts a person can have on a family, helping patients to achieve their greatest potential possible. Kristin always tries to instill hope and positivity in all those around her –patients, families, coworkers, friends, acquaintances.

Kristin lives in Lake Mary, FL with her husband, Matt, three girls Daralyn (11), Delaney (8), and Bristol (6). Outside of work, Kristin loves spending time with her girls and husband, going to the beach, boating, eating delicious foods, and running (to burn off all those calories)! It is truly inspiring when parents see and celebrate the milestones their little ones have made and achievements no matter how small.
